Carolyn Maestri passed away at her home with her loving family by her side on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the age of 79 after a courageous battle with ALS.
Carolyn faced her health challenges with dignity and grace that were true to her character. Never one to complain, Carolyn was known for always worrying about everyone else and putting the needs of others before her own. All who knew her will cherish the many fond memories of her kind and generous heart.
She was born and raised in Petaluma, California. In 1963 she married James (Jim) Maestri. Together they made their home in Point Reyes where they raised their family, and she worked as a teacher’s aide at West Marin and Inverness schools for over 20 years. They were married 48 years until his passing in 2012.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Tony Maestri (Anne), Michelle Maestri Burkhard (Brian), grandchildren JT and Jared Maestri, sister DeeDee Smith (Mark), brother Chuck Robfogel (Patty), sister in-law (late) Genevieve Johnson, nephews Scott Johnson, Nick (Jenni) and Chris (Christy) Robfogel.
In addition to her husband Jim, she was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Josephine Robfogel, in-laws Tony and Zelma Maestri.
Carolyn took delight in pulling weeds and working in her yard. She loved Elvis, spending time with family and friends, and occasional trips to the casino. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
The family is grateful to Tuks, Lenny, and nurse Melanie for the kind and compassionate care they provided.
A memorial for Carolyn will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Petaluma, followed by a gathering at the Glenn Ranch. Private interment. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice by the Bay.
