Roy Lattimore Obituary

Roy Jay Lattimore (84) passed away at home, surrounded by family January 1, 2018 following a brief illness. Born June 9, 1933 to Nellie May (Newman) Lattimore and William Lattimore. Raised in Bakersfield, Ca. he played baseball for Fresno State and semi-pro in Canada and had a lifelong love of the Dodgers. He met his love, Louise (Maulsby) Lattimore while attending college and they married in January 1955. Drafted later that year, he served in Korea as a Sergeant in the Army.  Loving servant of the Lord all of his life and devoted member of the Petaluma United Methodist Church for 57 years, where he loved singing in the choir. Dedicated to teaching, he touched countless lives during his 33 years at Petaluma High School teaching history, drivers education and coaching varsity baseball. In retirement he continued coaching his grandsons, playing golf at Rooster Run and volunteering at the Hospice Thrift store. Brother to the late Hazel Scofield and Anna Lucille Machen, he is survived by his wife Louise and children Karen Ervin (Rob), Katherine Lattimore-Stern (Rick) and John Lattimore (Anne). Adored by grandchildren Christopher Lattimore (Katie) Jennifer Stern (Emma), Benjamin Lattimore Stern (Joanna), Sam Ervin (Mandy), Neal Ervin (Emily), Daniel Ervin (Stephanie), Amanda Spina (Michael), Audry Christopher (Auston), Adam Ervin, Austin Lattimore, and Will Lattimore. Cherished Great Grandfather to Ella Lattimore, Josie Lattimore, Vivian Lattimore, Lucy Lattimore, Cody Ervin, Cole Ervin, Richie Marinez and Alexandra Ervin. A private family graveside ceremony will be held and a Celebration of Life for all his family and friends will be scheduled this spring. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hospice or the charity of your choice and practice random acts of kindness.
