Born in Switzerland, Adelia immigrated to the U.S. via Ellis Island in 1922, accompanied by her mother, aunt and uncle. The family traveled via train to Virginia City, Nevada to meet up with Adelia's father, who was then mining. From there, the family ranched in Gault and Alturas before settling in the Petaluma area in 1938. Eventually Adelia went to work for Marin French Cheese Company in 1948 and worked there until 2008. She joined the Petaluma Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1954 and has been an active member since. Adelia was an avid gardener and birder and she traveled all over the world.
Preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, she is survived by her sister, daughter, four grand children, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many cousins both in the U.S. and Switzerland. She was generous and helpful to many, loved by many and will be missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held at Parent-Sorenson Mortuary & Crematory in Petaluma on February 19th at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the World Wildlife Fund, Mono Lake Committee or ADRA.
