Aj Maldonado

AJ Maldonado, 69, passed away on Sunday May 1, 2022 at home after a long illness known as Cutaneous T cell Lymphoma. Born in San Francisco, he was the son of Frederick and Sally Budde.  He was raised in Novato and has resided in Petaluma for the past 35 years.   AJ graduated from Novato High School and went to UC Berkeley graduating with a BS in chemical engineering. After completing college he joined the Air Force and was part of the special forces known as Pararescue (PJ’s). AJ served in the Vietnam war.   Fitness became a great love for him and he met his long time wife Pamela of 32 years in a fitness class that he was teaching. AJ was a gifted group exercise Instructor.  They launched a career together teaching fitness which lead AJ down the path of personal training, post rehabilitation and massage. Together in 2001 they opened Maldonado’s Renew with the help of business partners Gary and Michael Ramatici, a boutique Personal Training, Pilates and Yoga studio in downtown Petaluma. In 2005, AJ and Pamela went solo with their business and it evolved into Renew Yoga. AJ was an amazing teacher and motivator and he helped change the lives of so many people with his great skills, knowledge and passion for everything fitness. Competing in the National Aerobic Championship in 1994 ultimately led AJ to announce for this organization which also produced world wide sport aerobic competitions along with Hip Hop International, the largest dance competition in the world! His great love for the athletes and dancers gave him such joy as his voice was embedded in the hearts of all who heard him. This passion went on for 22 years.    He is survived by his wife Pamela; son Brennen; grandson Nikko, his Mother Sally and his sister Theresa and brother John.   A celebration of life for AJ will be held Saturday May 7,2022 at 11am at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary on 850 Keokuk Street, Petaluma CA 94952 Memorial Service
