Albert J VanderWerf, age 99, of Santa Rosa California was called and welcomed into his Forever Home with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday January 12, 2021. He was born on October 26, 1921 in Colton, South Dakota to Chris and Alice (Zuiderhof) VanderWerf.
Albert was a WWII veteran serving from 1942 to 1945. After discharge he worked for the Corp of Engineering until his retirement.
Albert's siblings are Gertrude De Jongh of Edgerton, Minnesota, Donald (Norma) VanderWerf of Plano, Texas, Roger (Maria) VanderWerf of Wyoming, Michigan and Roy (Judy) Vander Meulen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and sister-in-laws, Jo VanderWerf of Sioux Center, Iowa and Donna Vander Meulen of Ripon, California. He was preceded in death by sisters Jessie Burgers and Jeanette Vosburg and brothers Willian VanderWerf and Larry Vander Meulen. He had twenty nieces and nephews, three of whom preceded him in death.
When he was able, Albert enjoyed square dancing, swimming and riding his bike. Recently he loved riding his stationary bike, reminiscing about family, memories of growing up in Colton, South Dakota and his experiences in WWII.
