Alcuina Sousa Correia

Alcuina Sousa Correia, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully at the age of 94. Born on November 2, 1929, in Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the second oldest of seven siblings and was known for her strength, resilience, and deep love for her family.

Alcuina married Domingos Correia, the love of her life, and together they enjoyed 53 years of marriage until his passing on May 30, 2007. Their blessed union produced five children: Conceicao Gouveia (Manuel), the late Anna Maria, Maria DeFatima Alves (Luis), Emanuel Correia (Kathy), and the late Paula Maria Correia.

A dedicated mother and homemaker, Alcuina was an exceptional cook, known for her traditional Portuguese meals. She was a passionate and active member of the Senhor Santo Cristo Society in Petaluma, dedicating over 20 years to volunteering, cooking, and baking. In her later years, she lovingly maintained a watchful eye over the Statue of Senhor Santo Cristo, demonstrating her enduring faith and commitment.

Alcuina is survived by her loving sister, Maria Couto of Massachusetts, three of her children, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored immensely. She leaves behind a legacy rich in love, kindness, faith, and devotion to family, which will continue to inspire generations to come.

The family warmly invites those who knew Alcuina to join in celebrating her life. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023, from 1:00pm to 8:00pm at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary, 850 Keokuk Street, Petaluma, CA, with a Rosary at 6:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 6th, at 12:00pm at Saint James Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway, Petaluma, CA, followed by burial at 1:30pm at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 304 Magnolia Ave, Petaluma, CA.
