Alfonso J. Minero

ALFONSO J. "FONCIE" MINERO died after his courageous, hard fought battle with cancer on Friday, June 10, 2016 at home in Petaluma, CA, surrounded by his devoted wife, Caroline and family and friends. He was born on February 27, 1942 in Albuquerque, NM to Alfonso Minero Jr. and Transita (Santiago) Minero. In 1977, in Albuquerque, NM, he married the love of his life, Caroline Romero. After serving his country in the U.S. Army, he began his career with Alpha Beta/Lucky Markets and Union Member (UFCW) for over 45 years. After his retirement in 1994, he began a second career as a Licensed Tax Preparer from which he retired two years ago. Al's passion was music. He loved singing Mariachi music and accompanied himself playing guitar. Al had a singing voice which rivaled the voices of God's angels! To family and friends, it was obvious: Al and Caroline had "truly" found, in one another, each other's "soul mate!" Al is survived by his wife, Caroline; four children: Angelita Minero and children, Gavino, Adrianna, and Abriella; Alfonso J. Minero Jr. (Nicole) and children, Alfonso J. Minero III and Antonio; Ramona Tiernan (John); Carolina Sepulveda (Robert "Gomez") and children, Taylor, Dominique, Teo, Diosa and Andrea; seven siblings: Marylou Minero, Rita Minero, Michael Minero (Sue), Margie Groves (Ron), Rosie Lucas, Albert Minero (Michelle), and Victoria Young (Dan); and numerous nephews and nieces. Friends and family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass, Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St. Petaluma, CA 94952. Private Inurnment. Visitation
