Alfred Julius "Al" Kuck

October 4, 1929 — April 22, 2015

ALFRED J. "AL" KUCK passed away peacefully at home, April 22, 2015. He was the beloved husband for 65 years of Shirley Kuck. Loving father of Alfred L. Kuck (Pamela), Debra Ann Grove (Robert) and Linda Lee Ladeck (Stephen). Cherished grandfather of Erin Hoskins, Christine Klessig, Dr. Caitlin Kuck, Bethany Deniz, Jordan Grove, Tyler Stevenson, Stephen Ladeck and Michael Ladeck. Great grandfather of Delilah Hoskins, Camille Hoskins, Alek Hoskins, Elijah Klessig, Liam Klessig, Adalynn Klessig, and Ava Deniz. Brother of the late Helga Olufs. Brother in law of Howard Hooper. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. A member of a pioneer Petaluma area family, Al was born, reared and educated in Petaluma. He has been involved as a livestock dealer and rancher all of his life and was well known throughout Marin and Sonoma Counties. Al was married to his high school sweetheart, Shirley Hooper for over 65 years. He enjoyed hunting, working and sports, especially the Giants and 49'ers. He was a member of the Sonoma Marin Cattlemen's Association, where he served as president during 1998-1999. He was awarded "Cattleman of the Year" by that organization in 1995. He was also a member of the Petaluma Elks Lodge #901, the Nicasio Parlor #183 of the Native Sons of the Golden West, and was a long time member of the Hicks Valley Gun Club. He was given the Sonoma County Horse Council Hall of Fame Equus Award in 2008, the first ever given to a non-member for all he had done for the horse community. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. Family and friends are also invited to attend the funeral service, Monday, April 27, 2015 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 939 B Street, Petaluma, CA. Private interment, will be at Cypress Hill Memorial Park. The family would prefer memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 939 B St., Petaluma, CA 94952 or to the 4-H Foundation, PO Box 1283, Rohnert Park, CA 94927.
