Alice Jean Rebizzo

Resident of Petaluma

Alice Rebizzo was born and raised, and lived all her long life, in Petaluma. Her parents, immigrants from the Liguria region of Italy, were Eugenio DeMartini and Rosa DeMartini. Alice attended St. Vincent’s Schools, Dominican College, and St. Mary’s School of Nursing, where she earned her degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for 33 years, rising to the position of Head Nurse in the operating room, and finally, Director of Operating Services. She retired in 1984.

In 1957 Alice married Remo Rebizzo, an immigrant from the same region in Italy as her parents, and they had a life together full of travel, especially visiting family and friends in Italy, wonderful meals, large family gatherings, and many friends. After Remo’s death in 2009, Alice continued a very active life, including regular volunteering, including with the Friends of the Library, and maintaining a vigorous social life with many friends from various aspects of her life, such as former nursing colleagues and fellow members of St. Vincent’s Church.

Alice had a personality larger than life, and she will be missed by very many people. She was generous to family and charitable organizations alike.

Alice is predeceased by her parents and her husband; she is survived by her sister-in-law, Angela Carneglia, of Sestri Levante, Italy, and by many cousins and nephews and nieces, in California, Nevada, Italy, and Chile.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Rosary on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 7:30 pm at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. A Funeral Mass will take place at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at St. Vincent’s Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma, followed by a reception at the church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church or your favorite charity in memory of Alice.  Entombment will be private.
