Allan Ahlstrom

Allan Ahlstrom - Allan passed away peacefully at age 91 March 3rd after a short illness. He was married 55 years to his wife Pauline who preceded him in death in November 2005. Cherished stepfather of Barbara Donaldson and her husband Herb of Santa Rosa; grandfather of Mark of IN, Steve of Rohnert Park, Todd of OR, and Dina of Fair Oaks, CA; and great-grandfather of 8. Allan was born Sept. 28, 1916 in Alberta, Canada, and came to the US in his early teens and was a resident of Santa Rosa for 75 years. While becoming an American citizen, he was drafted into the US Army and received his citizenship papers while in basic training at Fort Ord, CA in 1941. He served with great distinction as an Army Staff Sgt., on the front lines with the 9th Field Artillery in the European Theater from 1942 until his honorable discharge in Sept. 1945. Prior to his draft, he became a carpenter and was a lifetime member of Carpenters local 751. After his discharge, he continued his career in carpentry, earning the reputation of being a fine finish carpenter. After his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf with his buddies and dancing with the Merry-go-rounders, and was active in SIRS. He was also a member of St. Eugene"s Cathedral in Santa Rosa. Allan was a gentleman in every sense of the word and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Avalon at Brush Creek, 4425 Wayvern Dr., Santa Rosa. The family prefers donations to your favorite charity in memory of Allan.
