Amparo V. Wattel

March 7, 1929 — October 19, 2016

AMPARO V. WATTEL passed away on October 19, 2016 in Santa Rosa at the age of 87 years. Devoted wife of the late David A. Wattel. Cherished mother of David M. Wattel of San Francisco. Predeceased by nine sisters and two brothers. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Amparo was born and reared in Lima, Peru. During the 1960s, she moved to San Francisco, and in 1968, she married the love of her life, David, and together they enjoyed 45 years of marriage. They settled in Petaluma where they raised their son, David. Amparo worked as an ESL teacher at Miwok Elementary School for ten years. Despite her busy schedule, she found time to establish Club Hispano Americano, which raised college money for Hispanic children. She was also active in a Toastmistress Club. As a devout Catholic, Amparo committed herself to St. James Church's altar guild and enjoyed her volunteer work with St. Anthony's Soup Kitchen in San Francisco. She was a wonderful woman cherished by many, and will be greatly missed. Friends and family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass, Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Donation Processing, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014. Inurnment: Calvary Cemetery, Petaluma Immediately after the Memorial Mass. Memorial Mass
