Anna Marie Costa

August 8, 1926 — July 13, 2013

ANNA MARIE COSTA, age 86, passed away on July 13, 2013 in Santa Rosa. Ann was born in Petaluma, CA, on August 8, 1926, the daughter of Louie and Marie Fehler. Ann (Shorty, as friends knew her) had such a full life. She grew up in Cotati on the family chicken ranch. There she learned all about sewing, canning and gardening from her mother and ranching from her father. Once she met Harry and they got married she went to work in the banking business. She taught herself shorthand and then went onto a teller position. After a 30 year career in banking she retired as V.P. assistant from West America Bank. During that time they raised four children. Shorty had to try everything. She loved water skiing and boating, reading, RVing, gardening, and her 1957 T-Bird. She and Dad loved to dance; they would be the first on and last ones off the dance floor. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Harry Costa; Children; Toni (Tobby) Bracht, Holly (Norman) Gannon, Julie (Jimmi) Martinoni, Jay Costa; Grandchildren; Tami Gannon, Heather (Chris) Cheney, Melissa (Peter) Arno, Dustin Martinoni, Crystal (Cory) Norris; Great-Grandchildren; Wyatt Arno, Emily Arno, Rylee Cheney, Peyton Cheney, and baby girl Norris on the way; her loving sister Louise Jensen and niece Valerie Gardiner. Friends and family are invited to attend the Memorial Service, Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. In honor of Shorty, donations may be made to Christmas Cheer, c/o Petaluma Coordinating Council, PO Box 4741, Petaluma, CA 94955 or flowers are welcome.
