Anne Marie Moriarty Okonsky passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026 in Petaluma, California with her daughter Jennifer by her side. In the days leading up to her passing, she was surrounded by her children/grandchildren, her brother Pat and sister in law, Debbie. She was born on April 23, 1940, in the Bronx, New York, and was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School in New York City.
After marrying Raymond Okonsky in 1961, they started their family together and resided in Jersey City, New Jersey. In 1967, they moved to Bridgewater, NJ, where she raised her family and built a life centered on love, service, and community. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found her greatest joy in time spent with her family. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
A devoted nurse, counselor, and advocate, Anne Marie dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked as a LPN and Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LCADC) at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ where her compassion and commitment made a lasting difference in countless lives. Her greatest contribution was her work at The Center for Great Expectations in Somerset, NJ where she offered hope, encouragement, and unwavering support to women and children in need.
She had a special gift for connecting with people and truly enjoyed talking with everyone she met. Whether with family, friends, or strangers, Anne Marie always had a kind word, a sincere compliment, or a warm smile to share. Her gentle spirit and genuine interest in others made people feel seen, valued, cared for and loved.
She was predeceased by her beloved son, Raymond Frances; her former husband, Raymond; his wife, Patricia. She is survived by her six children and their spouses: Gerard (Susan), Christian, Timothy (Linda), Denise (David), Thomas (Margaret), and Jennifer (Jesse); her brother Patrick Moriarty and his wife Debbie. She was lovingly known as “Nana” to her fifteen grandchildren: Melinda, David, Raymond, Keil, Luke, Dean, Mark, Megan, Sean, Emily, Hannah, Matthew, Rose, Ella, and Clara; and four great-grandchildren: Cody, Lila, Silas, and Everly, all of whom will cherish her memory and carry forward her legacy of kindness, strength, and compassion.
In accordance with her wishes, Anne Marie will be cremated and laid to rest near her son at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Bridgewater, NJ. A Funeral Mass and burial will be celebrated at St. Bernard’s Church in Bridgewater, NJ on June 12 at 10:00 a.m., and a memorial service will follow at Raritan Valley Country Club, Bridgewater, NJ. Anne Marie believed this should be a time of celebration and asked that those attending her funeral wear something joyful rather than traditional mourning attire.
Anne Marie will be remembered for her generous heart, her dedication to helping others, and her deep love for her family. She touched many lives through her work, her conversations, and her quiet strength. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Center for Great Expectations (https://www.cge-nj.org/) or the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org/).
