Anne Luise (Sambuck) Clark

February 10, 1948 — March 28, 2025

Petaluma

Anne Luise (Sambuck) Clark was born on February 10, 1948, to Margaret and Louis Anthony (Louie) Sambuck in Petaluma, California. She joined her sister, Pam, and later welcomed siblings John, Lori, and Tina into the family. Growing up in Petaluma, Anne attended Petaluma High School, where she shone both academically and as a spirited cheerleader alongside her lifelong friends Sandy Augustine and Darlene Cornell. She loved swimming and embraced a variety of extracurricular activities. After graduation, Anne pursued higher education at Fresno State University before earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of San Francisco. Anne married Herman Clark, an Inspector with the San Francisco Police Department, and together they built a loving family, raising two sons, Brian and Matthew. She took immense joy in supporting her boys—cheering at their sporting events and guiding them into adulthood—while cherishing her life with Herman. Professionally, Anne enjoyed a remarkable career at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, where she served as a registered nurse in the Intensive Care and Coronary Care units for many years. Her dedication and skill led her to become the Director of Member Services in 2006, a role she held until her retirement in 2009. In her personal life, she discovered a passion for quilting, crafting unique and heartfelt quilts for family and friends. In her later years, Anne’s greatest happiness came from time spent with her family. She adored watching her grandchildren—Marcus, Mika, and Maximus—play sports alongside her son Matt and his wife Jemerie in Petaluma, or visiting her son Brian, his wife Tameeko, and their children Dylan and Emerson in sunny San Diego. Her five grandchildren filled her life with boundless love and joy. Anne faced a 16-year battle with cancer with extraordinary strength and grace. Even in her toughest moments, her unwavering spirit shone through as she continued to support her family with unconditional love. Kind, compassionate, and relentlessly determined, Anne remained a source of inspiration until her final breath on March 28, 2025. Her memory is woven into the lives of those she touched, forever cherished with love. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Louie Sambuck; her mother-in-law, Alma J. Peterson; and her sister-in-law, Regina (Marlene) Jones. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 50 years, Herman Clark; her sons, Brian (Tameeko) and Matthew (Jemerie); her beloved siblings, Pam Sambuck, Lori Lafranchi (Larry), Tina Brusnahan (Steve), and John Sambuck; her cherished grandchildren, Marcus, Dylan, Mika, Emerson, and Maximus; her nieces, Rachel (Keith), Danielle, and RenaMarie (Daryl); her nephew, Adam; her cousins, Ron Muzio, (Kathy) and June Hardin-Silva; her stepchildren, Karen (Dennis) and Kimberly, grandson Isaiah; and a wide circle of extended family, friends, and colleagues.
