Arnold Sherwood Mcdonald

Arnold Sherwood McDonald passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2022 at the age of 92. Arnold was born to Joseph and Mary McDonald in Petaluma on November 13, 1929. He was raised in Nicasio and went to San Rafael high school. He later met his beloved wife June in West Marin at the French Cheese Company. They chose Petaluma as their place to settle down, however he was then drafted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean war. When he returned, they started their family and had two daughters, Sharon and Joyce. Arnold worked in the local creamery industry for 38 years. He enjoyed fishing and belonged to the local hunting club.

Arnold was a member of the Sons In Retirement and also the Nicasio Druids. On sunny days, you could find him tending to his vegetable garden, another love he had. His wife June passed away in 2019. Arnold is also predeceased by his brother Harry Edward. He is a cherished grandfather of Ryan Hagler, Nicholas, Jason, Lauren and Alexandra Toy. We will always remember his fair and pragmatic sensibility.

A visitation will be held at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma Sunday, May 15 from 4-7pm. Private interment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Donations can be made in Arnold’s name to Hospice of Petaluma.
