ARTHUR J. "ART" CADER passed away peacefully on January 31, 2014 at his Petaluma residence at the age of 92 years. Devoted husband of Selma Cader of Petaluma. Loving father of Bruce Cader (Kris) of Santa Rosa, Linda Cader of Berkeley, Gary Cader of Petaluma, and Janice Cader-Thompson (Jerry) of Petaluma. Cherished grandfather of Michelle Laney of Sacramento, Haley Dequine (Jon) of Davis, Rebecca Thompson of Petaluma, Olivia Hogya (Shawn) of Petaluma, Brent Cader (Michelle) of Santa Rosa, Arthur "Artie" Cader of Petaluma, Amanda Dougan of Santa Rosa, and Rebecca Dougan-Trenam (Kevin) of Santa Rosa. Beloved great-grandfather of 14. Loving son of the late Mary and Morris Cader. Dear brother of Mildred Weisberg and the late David Cader and Edna Budde,. Survived by several nieces and nephews.
Art was born, reared and educated in Petaluma, graduating in 1941 from Petaluma High School. During WWII, he served in US Army Air Force as a B-24 pilot. During his service, he received six air medals as well as the Distinguished Flying Cross. But, it was not until 60 years later that he was presented with the award. He was an amazing pilot and could handle any situation. Finally, at the age of 87, he decided it was time to give it up. Art also owned and operated Cader Farms in Petaluma for over 30 years.
He was the past president of the Sonoma County Farm Bureau, and member of the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco, APBA of Oakland, board member of PAPA, Toastmasters, and Congregation B'nai Israel.
The family especially thanks Hospice of Petaluma and Dr. Aye for their "premium care."
Friends and family are invited to attend Funeral Service on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. A Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
