Arthur Shepherd

Arthur Shepherd - Arthur Lloyd Shepherd was born in Bismarck, ND on March 2, 1944 to Lloyd and Louise (Hagen) Shepherd. Passed away suddenly January 9, 2011 in his garden at the age of 66, planting a Gem peach tree. He attended schools in Bismarck where he was involved in 4-H and FFA, after graduation in 1962 he joined the Army and served in Germany, Turkey, Taiwan, Two Rock Ranch Station (California), Hawaii, Maryland, Thailand and Massachusetts. He received a BA in Business from Chaminade University by attending night school while stationed in Hawaii. While stationed in California, Art met and married Margaret Myles of Penngrove, CA on July 13, 1968 and became the proud parents of 3 children and one granddaughter. Settling in Penngrove in 1974, Art was active in the community while working for his In-laws at Penngrove Hay & Grain: a volunteer fireman, on the 4th of July parade committee, Golden gate Arabian Horse Association, a 4-H leader ,soccer coach, and later in life with a horse rescue program. In his retirement, he was a gardener and friend to many of the members of the Santa Rosa Garden club. He is survived by his wife Margaret and three children: Scott(Toni) Shepherd, Dawn (Bryan) Thompson, Patrick Shepherd, and his Granddaughter Devin Thompson. As well as his siblings: Pam (John) Haluzak, Robert (Mary) Shepherd, Irene (Elmer) Jaton, Lindona (Terry) Brendel, Roger (Kayla) Shepherd, Daniel (Kathy) Shepherd, Paul (Jennifer) Shepherd and Alan (Beth) Shepherd. And His Mother In-Law: Gladys Myles. A memorial gathering will be held Saturday January 22, 2011 from 1 to 5pm at St Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church (banquet hall) 850 Saint Olga Ct Santa Rosa, CA 95407 In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to www.Sonomachangeprogram.com. The family was served by Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, Petaluma, CA.
