Arty-Lou Ida Richardson

February 19, 1931 — November 29, 2019

Arty passed away peacefully on November 29, 2019 at the age of 88. Arty-Lou was born February 19th, 1931 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Arthur and Louise Brown.  The family moved to Marin City in 1943 to join her father who worked in the Sausalito shipyards during World War II.  Arty met and eventually married her future husband Morris Richardson who was a member of the United States Air Force.  She traveled with Morris and her four children during his time with the service to places such as Texas, Bermuda, Philadelphia, Alabama and finally to California where the family planted roots in Petaluma, CA. Arty created a beautiful home where her family and friends enjoyed many meals, barbecues, swim parties and her loving and welcoming presence.  She was known for her craft skills and very creative when it came to sewing, baking and all around house re-decorating.

She retired from Bank of America as a teller after many years of service and began travelling extensively with her daughter Kim and childhood friends Fay, Kay, Mattie and Ruby.  They had adventures all over the world including Europe, Africa and the Philippines sometimes getting more than they bargained for as their vacations coincided with three different coups.

She was a devoted and active member of Village Baptist Church for many years where she sought comfort and spiritual guidance. Arty had an extremely kind heart and was a giving woman who accepted everyone and made all who met her feel welcome.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Morris Richardson and daughter Karen Richardson.  Arty is survived by her children: Kim, Kirk and Kyle Richardson; grandchildren: Brett, Jerika, Kasey and Kameron; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many life-long friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of her life and repast on December 14th at 1:00 pm at The Village Baptist Church, 3835 Cypress Drive #107, Petaluma, CA, 94954.
