Audrey Yvonne Phillips, born on August 24, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength that touched all who knew her.
On September 5, 1959, Audrey married the love of her life, Jim Phillips. Their story began with a memorable first date—Jim picked Audrey up in his grandmother’s convertible Cadillac, though he had no money for dinner. It was a humble and heartfelt beginning to a lifetime of love, laughter, and partnership.
Audrey pursued her education with dedication and purpose. She completed her nursing training at Hurley Hospital School of Nursing. Continuing her lifelong commitment to learning, she went on to earn her master’s degree from Sonoma State University.
In 1961, Audrey moved from Detroit, Michigan to Fort Ord, California, where she began a new chapter of her life and built lasting connections and memories.
Audrey was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She carried herself with grace and warmth, always ready with a listening ear, a gentle word, or a helping hand. Her presence brought comfort and joy to those around her.
She had a deep love of gardening, a passion she lovingly passed on to her daughters. Audrey also enjoyed crafts and found joy in creating with her hands.
A lifelong traveler, Audrey embraced adventure in all forms. She journeyed across the United States—from camping in tents to traveling in RVs—making memories along the way. Her travels also took her around the world, including a Caribbean Barefoot cruise, a river lock cruise through Europe, and unforgettable trips to Alaska, Africa, and Costa Rica.
Some of her most cherished moments were spent closer to home at Bodega Bay beaches—walking along the shore, enjoying picnics, and playing sand golf with her family.
She cherished time with her family above all else. Whether through shared meals, heartfelt conversations, or simple moments together, Audrey created lasting bonds that will never be forgotten. Her love was steady, unconditional, and deeply felt.
Audrey will be remembered especially for her amazing smile and her kindness to all. Her faith was an important part of her life, and her favorite saying, “He has risen, He has risen indeed,” reflected the hope and joy she carried in her heart.
Audrey is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Phillips; her daughters, Cathy Wallace and her spouse Jim Wallace, Susy Priddy and spouse Todd Priddy, her grandsons Thomas Price and
Raymond (RJ) Priddy, her sister Lynn Gauthier, her niece Dawn (Mike) McKenzie, along with extended family and dear friends who will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude.
Audrey will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
A service to honor Audrey’s life will be held at a later date.
