Augustus Staton

Augustus Staton(Augie) age 55, died on November 16, 2020 in Cotati. He was struck by a vehicle while walking the family dog, Koda. Augie was born in Orange County, California to Lee and Mary Staton. He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree with high honors in Food Biochemistry from U.C. Davis and a Master’s degree in Food Science also from U.C. Davis. He worked at many different food companies over the years. Most recently he worked at La Tortilla Factory in Santa Rosa as Research and Development Manager. Augie leaves behind his wife of over 28 years Kelly Staton and his children Bailey Staton and Christopher Staton. Augie is also survived by his mother Mary from Santa Ana, California and his brother Ed Staton(Eli) from Ben Lomond, California. He was predeceased by his father Lee in 2018. Augie was a wonderful, kind man with a quiet sense of humor who loved his family very much. He enjoyed being outside in nature and logged many, many miles hiking the trails of Sonoma County and beyond. He was also a fine musician playing both the guitar and piano nearly everyday. He was incredibly intelligent and was often the person sought out for advice on almost any topic. Augie also brought a high level of precision and technical expertise to his work. He really enjoyed his job and brought many food products from idea to production. Augie’s sudden death has been a shock to his family and friends. He will be forever missed. No services were held due to COVID-19
