Barbara Lee McCorkel

McCORKEL, Barbara L. passed away, peacefully at home, as she wished in Petaluma, CA September 26th, 2026. She was 97. 

Beloved wife of late Clem (Corky) W. McCorkel of Petaluma. Loving mother of Rob (Christie) McCorkel of Petaluma. Cherished “GMA” of Trenton and Kylie McCorkel. Loving sister of late Marge (Jack) Roberts. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in San Francisco while her mother was visiting her brother, she was proud to have lived her entire life in Petaluma. Barbara attended Petaluma High School. Later, she met Clem, her husband where he was stationed at the Two Rock Army Base. They lived their married years in Petaluma. Together they had Rob. She loved spending her summers in Lake Tahoe with family and friends. Barbara worked for Two Rock School as secretary and business manager. She was also secretary and aid to Helen Putnam for many years. Helen shared with Barbara her love of bangle bracelets, which both were widely known to always wear. One of her proudest achievements was being an original contributor to the opening of the Petaluma Museum. After her husband passed, Barbara reconnected with Charles Chandler and they had many great years until his passing in 2010. The family would like to thank the wonderful people of Providence Hospice of Petaluma, especially our care nurse Gina. We are deeply grateful for their exceptional care.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation Friday, October 16th 2026 from 4-7pm at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, Magnolia Ave and Keokuk St. in Petaluma. Burial will be private. A celebration of her life will be held next spring. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers a donation in Barbara’s name to Providence Hospice of Petaluma.
