Barbara Montgomery Paige

PAIGE, BARBARA MONTGOMERY - Barbara Montgomery Paigenever met a baby she didn’tlove, especially her threegrandsons. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren and basked in the love of her family and life-long friends during her 92 years.

Barbara graduated from Santa Rosa High School and attended Santa Rosa Junior College then worked undercover as a Federal Investigator identifying counterfeiters of gas rationing stamps during World War II.

Her husband would later say she was in more danger than he was while stationed in the South Pacific. During the war, she married Navy pilot Philip Paige and gave birth to two children, Virginia and Randy Paige.

Barbara later worked as a legal secretary and spent more than 20 years at Sonoma State College where she ran the Sociology Department under the title of “secretary” and commanded the respect and admiration of professors and students.

She was present at the birth of her grandsons; Jayme Eldridge, Ryan Paige and Tim Paige and had a profound impact on their lives through her undying devotion.

Barbara Montgomery Paige died gently and peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on January 30th, 2014.

She is survived by her daughter Ginny Eldridge Paige, son Randy Paige and his wife Trish, grandsons Jayme Eldridge, Ryan Paige and his wife Christen and Tim Paige.
