MARKELL, BEATRICE LOUISE July 26, 1926~April 19, 2014

Beatrice Markell passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 19, 2014, with her children by her side. Beatrice was born in Sandcreek, Wisconsin to Arthur and Mable Olson on July 26, 1926. Her family moved to California in 1940.

She was proceeded in death by her husband; William (Al) Markell, her sister; Arlene, brother; Merle and three daughters; Gaye, Gayle and Gay.

She was the loving Mother of six children who she raised in San Francisco. She is survived by her son; Guy (Butch) Markell, daughters; Diane Lujan and Donna Markell as well as her son-in-law; Ben Lujan and daughter-in-law; Mary DeVincenzi (Markell). She is the adored grandmother of ten and cherished great grandmother of twelve and great-great grandmother of one. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was the President and CEO of Markell Incorporated for fifty-seven years, where she worked up until her untimely passing. She was known as “MOM” to hundreds of Law Enforcement Officer’s and Fire Fighters throughout the Western States. She enjoyed life to the fullest especially her Family, Casino’s and Budweiser, all in that order. In the 1950’s, following her husband’s severe injury, she took on two jobs to support a family of six. What do you get when you work your fingers to the bone? You receive love, admiration and respect of all those around you.

Family and friends are invited to attend a “Celebration of Beatrice’s Life” at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 at the LAFFERTY & SMITH COLONIAL CHAPEL (4321 Sonoma Highway, Santa Rosa, CA, 95409). Private inurnment; Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Colma, CA. As an expression of sympathy, the family prefers memorial contribution’s in Beatrice’s name be sent to Sutter Care at Home (1110 No. Dutton Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA, 95401).
