Bettie Jean O'Brien

Bettie passed peacefully on January 24, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was 91 years of age. Bettie was born in Stockton, California to Ted and Dorothy Smalley and was predeceased by her brothers, Richard Smalley and Thomas Smalley. Bettie grew up in Potter Valley, California and as a young woman worked driving troops during World War II. It was during one of these trips that she met her husband, Joseph O'Brien and they were married in 1945. Bettie is survived by her three children, Sharon Miller (Bobby), Pamela Berlanga, and Rick O'Brien (Valerie), grandchildren Julie Hurley, Steven Miller (Heather), Jason Berlanga, Christina Gonzalez (Donaciano), Nicholas O'Brien and Matthew O'Brien, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Bettie was laid to rest in a private family service. Donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Petaluma.
