Betty Louise Martinsen Hansen

Betty Louise Martinsen Hansen - Born in San Francisco, CA, May 7, 1935 to Nanna K. (Lobek) Martinsen and Lewis H. Martinsen. She moved to Petaluma in 1938 at the age of 3 and has called Petaluma home ever since. Her earliest education was at Lincoln Primary School where she attended until a move in to Marshall Avenue in 1943. She attended Cinnabar School and Petaluma Junior & Senior High Schools. After graduating from High School, she attended uC Davis and majored in Home Economics graduating from there in 1957. She first taught in Tuolumne, CA for two years before returning to Petaluma in 1959 to teach in the same classroom where she had taken her home economics classes. She continued to teach there until her retirement in the early 1990â??s. In 1974 she married Richard Hansen who survives her. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth (Bob) Briden of Lacey, WA, three nephews, James C. (Laurie), Bruce, and David (Joanna) Brigden, three step daughters, Carol Lee Hansen of Santa Rosa, Gwen Palmer of Wisconsin and Janet Butler of England. . Betty has been active in the American Home Economics Association, Redwood Stitchers, Danish Sisterhood and Dania. Since retiring, she has also been very active in the retired teachers, Petaluma Museum and VFW Auxiliary as well as many other organizations.
