Beverly Claire Wilson - Following a long illness, Beverly Claire Wilson, at age 79, passed away peacefully at her home on December 31, 2007. She was a life-long Petaluma resident born January 3, 1928 at Petaluma General Hospital.
Beverly was best known as the outspoken CEO of the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds from 1972 to 1993. She began her employment at the Fairgrounds in 1968. To Beverly, the Fair was an opportunity for youth to participate in an event that promoted the same strong positive values that she had experienced in her youth. Upon her retirement in 1993 she had rightfully earned the reputation for administering one of the most fiscally successful fairs in the State. Throughout her tenure she served on a multitude of statewide industry boards and committees, advancing innovative programs to protect the future of all fairs. In 2003 Beverly was presented â??The Western Fairs Association Hall of Fame Award.â?
