Bill Appleton - Bill Appleton passed away at his Petaluma residence on December 3, 2008. Loving husband of 'Ellie' Appleton. Cherished father of Guy Appleton and his wife Carol of Grants Pass, OR. Dear grandfather of Elina Molina and her husband Jaime of Crescent City, CA and Theresa Appleton of San Rafael. Devoted great-grandfather of Elinora Molina of Crescent City. Dear brother-in-law of Sue Appleton and uncle of Ronnie and Sue Appleton, Jimmy Appleton, and Lynn Appleton. Survived by the mother of Elina and Theresa; Birgitta Appleton of Penngrove and several great nieces and nephews. Bill was born and reared in San Francisco. He proudly served during WWII with Gen. MacArthur in the Philippines as a Navy Lieutenant. They moved to Sonoma County in 1960 where he was active in the Cotati Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Cotati City Council. He served 2 terms as Exalted Ruler in the Petaluma Elks Lodge 901 B.P.O.E., and was a member of the Masonic Order. For 10 years, he was a co-owner of the Washoe House. Bill loved golf and was known for his very charismatic, warm and humorous personality.
