Bodil Gildner - Passed away on Friday, April 17, 2009 of complications following ovarian cancer surgery.
Bodil was born in Sweden on November 16, 1939 and raised in Almunge by her Great Uncle and Aunt; Daniel Gustav Ellenius and Linnea Terese Ellenius (Almqvist).
Frank was involved in the Petaluma Rotary International for many years and Bodil volunteered to house visiting Rotarians from Europe and Asia and she helped with the parties for Christmas and other occasions. Volunteering at the Penngrove Elementary School Library, traveling to visit new places and seeing friends, and having her Christmas parties for our neighbors was what she enjoyed.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the Elim Lutheran Church, 504 Baker Street St., Petaluma at 3:00 P.M.
She graduated Katedral Skolan High School in 1960 in Uppsala Sweden, where she has many friends and relatives whom she and her husband Frank often visited since their marriage Mid-Summers Eve, June 19, 1970. Bodil started nursing college in 1961 and received her nursing license in 1964 with a specialty in operating room anesthesia. She soon started working night shifts at SERAFIMERLASARETTET (the oldest hospital in Sweden, started sometime in the 1600â??s) in the middle of Stockholm just opposite City Hall. This hospital was connected with Karolinska Sjukhuset (Hospital) where Bodil worked days as a Nurse Anesthetist until she moved to Los Angles in 1967.
