BRENDAN JAMES SMITH passed away peacefully in Santa Rosa, CA, Sunday, July 7, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. Beloved son of Jackie and Jim Smith of Bodega Bay. Dear grandson of John Aguiar Sr. of Petaluma and the late Josephine Aguiar. Loving nephew of John and Carolyn Aguiar, Joie Aguiar, Walt and Kim Smith, Hoot and Linda Smith all of Petaluma. Dear cousin of Nizza Sequeira, Kirk and Alexis Smith, Ryan and Kelly Smith all of Petaluma. Cherished Godson of Mark Ficco and Carol Siebe. Doting Godfather of Angelina Panfiglio and Colt Savage. Brendan was born in Petaluma, November 19, 1982, attended Cinnabar Elementary School, St. Vincent's Elementary School and graduated from St. Vincent High School, Class of 2001. He attended Sonoma State University, majoring in History. He grew up in the mortuary business, working for his father who is co-owner of Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, Petaluma, Parent-Sorensen Mortuary-Sebastopol and the Lafferty & Smith Colonial Chapel in Santa Rosa. Brendan enjoyed hunting ducks and deer and most of all was a real "people person." He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Petaluma Lodge #901 BPOE, Petaluma Moose Lodge #475, NSGW Nicasio Parlor #183, Harmony Grove #38 Druids and a former board member of the San Antonio Volunteer Fire Department. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. The Vigil Service will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma on Thursday at 6:00 pm. Family and friends are also invited to attend the Funeral Mass, Friday, July 12, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Entombment, Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Petaluma.
