A native of Santa Rosa, California, passed away on May 2, 2016, at the age of 65, surrounded by loved ones after a battle with cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife of 41 years, Louise Bostrom. Brian was the beloved father of son Eric (Eren) Bostrom of Santa Rosa; and daughter Lindsay Bostrom of Citrus Heights, California. He was doting Papa to granddaughter Honor Sophia and soon to be born grandson Rorick Gustav. He leaves behind his brother Edward (Renate) Stepienski. He was preceded in death by his sister Toni Stevens and parents Gustav Adolf and Muriel Elise Bostrom. Brian was born in Santa Rosa and grew up on a 6 acre ranch in Petaluma helping his father raise poultry and sheep. Brian received the Sonoma County 4-H All Star Award in 1969. He graduated from Petaluma High School in 1969 and attended Santa Rosa Junior College. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Georgia and Panama and received an Honorable Discharge in 1972. He was proud to be a 25-year member of Nicasio Parlor #183 Native Sons of the Golden West and enjoyed volunteering with the Bay Area German Shepard Rescue Group. Brian enjoyed hunting, cooking, camping, travel, and the art of gunsmithing, his beloved dog Pepper; and rescuing any stray dog he came upon. An avid outdoorsman, he frequented the hills and woods in Mendocino and Tahoe National Forests. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Memorial Hospice for their loving and compassionate care during Brian's final weeks of life.
The family will hold a private inurnment. Friends and family are invited to attend a "Celebration of Brian's Life" starting at 2 pm on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 6282 Melita Road, Santa Rosa, CA, 95409. As an expression of sympathy, the family prefers that memorial contribution's in Brian's name be made to Memorial Hospice (439 College Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95401). Friends & Family Gathering
