Carl J. Hansen

Passed away at the age of 100, in Clearlake, CA, November 7, 2018 beloved husband for 77 years of the late Ida Hansen. Loving father of Elaine Fauser (late Vic) and Barbara Adams (Steven). Adored grandfather of Mary Gail, Pete, Jeanne and Mark.  Great grandfather of Michael, Matthew, Sky, Victor, Ashley, Jenna, John and Jamie. Great great grandfather of Caylen, Belle and Myles.  Dear brother of Helga Petkovich and the late Fleming Hansen and Hertha Rupp. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carl, the son of the late Carl and Else (Iversen) Hansen early immigrants from Denmark, was born, reared and educated in Petaluma, graduating from Petaluma High School, Class of 1936. He grew up on the family poultry farm on Roblar Road. He began a lifelong career in plumbing with Ray Kynoch Plumbing, later working with Norm Van Bebber before starting Carl J. Hansen Plumbing and Heating which he operated until his retirement in 1980. He married Ida Gianini, his childhood sweetheart in 1940.

During World War II he served in the Sea Bees of the Navy in the South Pacific. Upon his return from the war, in 1946 he was one of the original founders of the Flying O Gun Club in Lake County which he thoroughly enjoyed his entire life. In the early 1950’s he discovered golf, a sport which he and later his wife enjoyed as members of the Petaluma Golf and Country Club, joining in 1954, and later after their move in 1980 to Hidden Valley Lake. In 1951, Carl joined the Petaluma Elks Lodge and has remained a member the past 67 years, having participated in many events throughout the years. His membership in the Danish Brotherhood was also an important part of his life.  He passed away after being in failing health the past several years.

Family and friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTURY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma.  Family and friends are also invited to attend the Memorial Service, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Elim Lutheran Church, 504 Baker St., Petaluma, CA.
