It’s with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Carolyn Faith Strange on October 18, 2025 in her home in Petaluma, Ca.
Born May 31, 1941 in Saskatchewan, Canada to Ella Marie and Elmer John Olson, youngest sister to Constance (Connie) Montoya, Doris Dixon, Elmer (Sonny) Olson, and Myrna Bellovich and numerous nieces and nephews. Her family moved to Sonoma County in 1944 by train when she was just a few years old.
Carolyn was a devoted spouse to the late John (Jack) Basil Strange, loving mother to Gregg Rockholt (and Ronyde), Amy Payer (and Sam Hernandez) and Ayn Fjaardahl-McDonald, step-mother to Jeff Strange and Jessica Strange, grandmother of Jacob, Erika, Jacknyde, Emma, Brock (and Makayla) and Aydan and great grandmother to Barrett and Colsen.
Carolyn was known for her great sense of humor, being very social and her love of her family. She was proud of her Norwegian roots, Elk’s Lodge #901 membership, Sons of Norway Membership - Frey’s Lodge 6-062, loved playing crossword puzzles, knitting, watching Jeopardy and the San Fransisco Giants and 49ers. Graduating from Petaluma High School in 1959. She was proud of her 20 year career as an Ophthalmologist Surgical Assistant, her work with the Polly Klaas Foundation and her volunteer work with Kaiser in Petaluma.
Services to be held at St. James Catholic Church, Petaluma, CA on Monday November 3, 2025 at 10:30 a.m., with Celebration of life at the Elk’s Lodge #901, Petaluma, CA after.
