Carolyn Louise Watson Mericle - Passed away November 6th in Bodega Bay, California, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born December 31, 1934 to Clyde and Carolyn Watson of Atlanta, where she was raised and attended college. In 1959, while vacationing in Jamaica, she met Thomas P. Mericle of Grand Rapids, MI, whom she would marry soon after. Together they would make their way to the west coast, ultimately settling in the San Francisco Bay Area where they made a life for nearly four decades. For the last 18 years, they made their home in Bodega Bay, where she was an active member of the community, participating in many clubs and organizations.
Though separated from her southern roots by distance, Louise was always a true southern lady, exuding grace, strength, tradition and caring in all that she did. These traits are the greatest gift that she has passed along to her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed, but her presence will live forever in all of them.
She is survived by husband Thomas Page Mericle Jr., son Jim Mericle, daughter Page Donovan, grandchildren Lukas, Sofia, Tess and Rose, and brother Clyde Watson Jr. In the hereafter, she joins her son Thomas Page Mericle III, her brother James Watson, and her parents.
A private springtime memorial will be held in Yosemite National Park, where the family has owned vacation property since 1976. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Louiseâ??s name to The Yosemite Fund, www.yosemitefund.org.
