Catherine Margaret Butler

CATHERINE MARGARET BUTLER passed away on April 8, 2016 in Santa Rosa at the age of 74 years. Devoted wife of Tom Butler of Petaluma. Cherished mother of Sean Butler (Cara) and Darrin Butler all of Petaluma. Adored grandmother of Victoria, Katelyn and Austin Butler. Beloved great-grandmother of Foster Gray. Loving sister of Hazel Hoage and Julie Goggin. Dear aunt of Jeff and Todd Hoage. A native of Salem, OR, Cathy and her family moved to Vancouver, WA, where she was raised. On November 27, 1965, she married the love of her life, Tom, and together they enjoyed 50 years of marriage. She worked as a teacher's aide for both Miwok and La Tercera schools, but found her joy as a homemaker. The original "soccer mom," Cathy took pride in raising her two boys, Sean and Darrin, and enjoyed her time as assistant baseball coach for their teams. Cathy and Tom loved to travel, especially to Hawaii, where she enjoyed sailing. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafts and was very gifted at creating Japanese Washi eggs. Her amazing talent was recognized and awarded when she entered the eggs into the Sonoma-Marin Fair. She was selfless and freely gave her time as a volunteer for Hospice of Petaluma. Above all, family was of the utmost importance to Cathy. She was a wonderful woman and will be greatly missed. Friends and family are invited to attend the Visitation on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma.
