Cathy Elaine Mcjilton

August 29, 1952 — June 11, 2010

Cathy Elaine McJilton - Passed away on Friday, June 11, 2010, at the age of 57 due to complications from her seven year battle with lung cancer. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Richard, sons Michael and Marcus, daughters-in-law Jennie and Leslie, grandchildren Kylie, Megan, Tyler, Kevin, and Ryan, parents Donald and Frances Woodruff, and sister and brother-in-law Susan and Scott Meile. Cathy was born in La Mesa, CA, and as a child moved to Lompoc, CA, where she lived until 1978. In 1978, Cathy moved to Santa Rosa with her husband and two young sons. As her sons grew, she became involved with their sports teams, baseball, soccer and football, as a team mother and avid supporter. Through these experiences, Cathy also became a loyal fan of the San Francisco Giants, attending games in a variety of different ballparks. Cathy"s attendance of Giants games across the West was a small part of her love of travel. Over the years, Cathy and Richard traveled extensively, destinations including Alaska, Mexico, the Caribbean, Tahiti and the South Pacific, Central America, and many others. One of these others, the island of Kauai, was by far her favorite place to visit, encompassing many visits of various lengths. Through all of the sports and travel, Cathy was also a loyal and hard-working employee, assistant, and ultimately partner to Sam Slayden for 21 years at local branches of national stock brokerages A.G. Edwards & Sons and Stifel Nicolaus. In these 21 years, she had the opportunity to meet and become close to many Sonoma County residents whom she considered not just clients, but friends. A celebration of Cathy"s life is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1451 Guerneville Rd., Suite 220, Santa Rosa, CA 95403 in memory of Cathy.
