Charles W. "Bud" Spaletta

On February 18, 2018, Charles “Bud” Spaletta, a longtime dairyman in Marin County, passed away at home at the age of 85. He is survived by his daughter, Patty, son-in-law, Jon, sons, Tony and Brian, and grandchildren, Jake and Alisha. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Eda (Grossi) Spaletta, and sister Helen Cristiani. His surviving siblings include elder brother, James “Jim,” younger brothers, Domingo “Dee Dee,” Henry “Hank,” John “Moe,” and sister Barbara “Susie” Fomasi. Bud was born in Petaluma, California and attended Petaluma High School. In the 1950s, he served four years in the Air Force earning a certificate in mechanics. He later owned a popular nightclub in Petaluma, the “Colony Club.” For over forty years, he operated a conventional Holstein dairy, which has been in the Spaletta family since the 1930’s.  In the past decade, he and his son Tony converted their conventional dairy to organic. Over the years he served as a director on numerous Boards relating to agriculture, including MALT, DHIA, Farm Bureau, and the former Petaluma Cooperative Creamery. Bud enjoyed being a member of the Elks Lodge and Druids (Petaluma), and Native Sons of the Golden West (Nicasio).

Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass, Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Petaluma.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Future Farmers of America.
