Charles "Chuck" Joseph Klebora, Jr.

April 1, 1936 — January 18, 2016

CHARLES "CHUCK" JOSEPH KLEBORA, JR., passed away at his home in Petaluma at the age of 79. Chuck - as he used to remind us was an April Fool - born April 1, 1936 in San Francisco to Charles Joseph Klebora Sr. and Martha Freida Frank. A native San Franciscan, Chuck was born and raised in the Outer Sunset in a home his Grandfather Joseph built when the area was nothing but sand dunes. Growing up near Ocean Beach was especially fortuitous for Chuck as he was introduced to the ocean and surfing at a young age - these were passions of his during his entire life. He was very proud to have graduated from Polytechnic High School in the spring of 1954. After graduation, he went to work for the Pacific Bell as a lineman in San Francisco and then became a cable splicer in Marin. Chuck retired after 30 years. During this time, he took a leave of absence for 2 years (1959-1961) while in the Army stationed in Germany. Upon his return, he took advantage of all the happenings of the 60's enjoying surfing at Kelly's cove and trips to Baja with friends. In 1976, Chuck bought a small home on the coast in Inverness near Drake's Bay one of his favorite surfing spots. The house was a never-ending labor of love for Sir Charles of Inverness (as he dubbed himself on his voicemail). He endeavored many renovations on the house using found drift wood and other unique, one of a kind materials. On July 21, 1979 Chuck married Valoise Rodriguez and moved from Inverness to Petaluma. After retiring, he enjoyed being a stay at home dad raising two children. He still enjoyed spending time at his Inverness home which was now a vacation spot for the family. He continued to surf and loved connecting with his friends in San Francisco at the Kelly's Cove Reunions. Chuck truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends - especially if they would laugh at his very corny jokes and witty comments. Some of his favorite times were spent hiking and camping in Big Sur and Yosemite with those close to him. Chuck was known for only driving a 1969 VW bus or a 1986 VW vanagon. Charles is survived by his wife of 36 years, Valoise Klebora, his daughter Kendra Miles (Steve), son Damon Rodriguez (April), "the boys" - his grandsons Alex, Trevor and Nathan Rodiguez and "the babies" - his granddaughters Ella and Amelia Miles. He is also survived by his sister Joan Bergantino and his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Join us to celebrate Chuck's life at Kelly's Cove, Ocean Beach at 11:30 am on Saturday, April 2. Donations in Chuck's honor may be made to Hospice of Petaluma with gratitude for the amazing group of people there who helped the family during this time.
