Charles William (98) & Maxine Cecilia Casarotti (93) were called home within six months of each other surrounded by their loved ones.

Maxine, the daughter of Max and Ella Herrerias, was born on August 13, 1928 in Sebastopol, CA. Her brother is Robert Herrerias (Carrol) of Petaluma. As a young girl, Maxine helped out on the family poultry farm in Sebastopol. At a young age Maxine traveled throughout Mexico, lived with close relatives and made new friends. Maxine was fluent in Spanish. On Maxine's return to California she attended SRJC and major in business. Maxine spent a long and successful career working as a Travel Consultant and Office Manager for several travel agencies in Sonoma County. Maxine’s passions were her family and travel. Maxine was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Maxine loved to share her home and garden. Maxine pursued her passion for travel by visiting many exotic places abroad, and traveled around the world three different times. When she wasn’t traveling, she was active in the Children’s Home Society, St. Vincent’s Mothers Club, SIRS Ladies and various Travel Agent Associations.

Charles (Chic), the son of Elvezio Felix Casarotti and Romilda Pedronti-Casarotti, was born on August 16, 1924 in San Rafael, CA. Charles was preceded in death by his sisters, Alma Barber, Vivian Petersen, and Anita Hyatt and is survived by his sister Evelyn ‘Peachie’ Colivas of Fortuna, CA. After HS graduation from Analy High School, Charles attended the Air Force Flight Academy in Texas and became an aviation cadet. Charles achieved sharpshooter status in marksmanship and rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, flying the wild P-51 Mustangs in World War II before being honorably discharged in October of 1945. Upon his return home, he started his career as an Operating Engineer. Charles worked for Don Dowd Construction for over 35 years. He held the positions of foreman and shop mechanic. He was a 75 year member of the Operating Engineers Local 3. On the weekends Charles loved woodworking, hunting and being in the outdoors. During his retirement, Charles was Maxine's wingman as they traveled together to Africa and Asia. Charles was active in the Petaluma Elks Club , SIRS, Sons' of Italy, and the Petaluma Italian Club.

Charles and Maxine met while he was home for Christmas on military leave. They were married on October 21, 1950 and were happily married for over 72 years. Charles and Maxine loved having their family close by and many of their friends and children’s friends became extended family members. Their house and cabin were always full of celebrations with family and friends. Maxine was an excellent cook and baker who always enjoyed entertaining her family, friends and neighbors.

Charles and Maxine cherished their two children, Randal Casarotti (deceased) and Cynthia Casarotti. They adored their grandchildren, Danielle Fraker (Casarotti), Jake Casarotti, Justin Casarotti, Jaelyn Casarotti and Elizabeth Davis. Their numerous nieces and nephews are Ron Herrerias, Paul Herrerias (Danielle), Judy James (Jeff), Janice Piehoff, Karen Alexander, Joan Rogers, Gary Shatto, Tamera Johnson, Patricia Gardner and Steve Amaral. They were very proud of their great-grandchildren Jax Fraker, Wyatt Fraker, Charlie Fraker and ‘Little’ Maxine Casarotti.

Charles and Maxine were lovingly cared for by their 27/7 caregiver and dearest friend, Litiana Wilson who brought much joy and laughter into their home.In lieu of flowers please donate to the amazing team at Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma CA 94952. An interment will be at Pleasant Hill Memorial Park Thursday, October 20 at 10:30am (1700 Pleasant Hill Road, Sebastopol, CA 95472) followed by A Celebration of Life at the Cotati Veterans Memorial Building, Cotati, CA 94931.
