Christine "Chris" Elene Martin

Chris Martin, 63 of Rohnert Park passed on February 4, 2022 surrounded by her family.  She was born on December 12, 1958 to parents Ray and Carol Schmidt in San Mateo, California.   She and her family later moved to San Jose, where she attended Blackford high school, San Jose State and Empire College.  She and her daughter moved to Sonoma County in the late 80’s to be close to her sister, niece and Nephew.  It was there she met her husband Eric in 1998 and continued to live in Sonoma County enjoying her passions in life.

Chris leaves behind her daughter Keely and husband Eric.  Her sister Lynn, nieces Jen, Chantel and Tory and nephews Joe, Brian, Brent and Brandon; her brother Greg, nephews Josh and Nick; her brother Jeff and many more cherished family and friends.

With her immense love for family, Chris was often surrounded by those closest to her.  Over the years she welcomed many friends to the family, most who lovingly refer to her as Auntie Chrissy.  She selflessly took care of her mother Carol for 13 years where they enjoyed going to bead shows with intentions of making jewelry.  Known for her quirky and unique sense of humor and the gift of gab, she was loved by many.

With her lifelong passion for the ocean, you could always count on Chris to say “Yeah!” to a trip to the beach.  She also enjoyed jet skiing, camping, riding quads and dirt bikes, skiing and just about any outdoor activity she could participate in.  She loved plants and enjoyed spending time in her garden of many flowers, fruits, and vegetables.

With a strong love for animals, she cared for a wide variety of pets from ferrets, other exotics, fish, reptiles, 150-pound sulcata tortoises Donatello and Rafaela, many barnyard animals including Chickadee and her blind pot belly pig and his seeing eye duck, her parrot Smurf, her amazing Akitas Jr., Brutus and Penny and her most recent addition, Bear.

She liked to travel across the U.S., Mexico and Canada and created many great memories in her adventures. Inspired by every place Chris could buy or pick up a trinket, keepsake or shell, she accumulated an impressive collection of items.  She over did everything and wanted the biggest and best, especially when it came to kitchen appliances or packing to go on trips.  Her hobbies included sewing, ceramics, jewelry making, and various other crafts.  Chris was a dedicated mother, daughter and friend.  Those who were fortunate to know her will continue to be impacted by her strength, humor and love for life.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of her 7-year battle with cancer.
