Claudette Norine (Hiribarren) Azevedo

It is with great sadness that the family of Claudette Norine (Hiribarren) Azevedo
announces her passing suddenly and unexpectedly
, on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the age of 73 years. Claudette
will be lovingly remembered by her husband
of 52 years, Peter,
and their children Christopher (Lina), Craig (Amy) and Brian (Melanie). Claudette
will also be fondly remembered by her six
grandchildren, Jessica, Rachel, Faith, Carter, Max and Vivian. Claudette was preceded in death by her parents Leon "Bud" and Rose (Katen) Hiribarren, brother Leon, step brother Eddie Thomas, and step sister Barbara Viera.
Born December 29, 1944, in Petaluma, California, Claudette grew up, went to school at St. Vincent's and graduated high school with the Class of 1962. A couple short years later married Peter on August 21, 1965 and together raised their three boys. She spent many years collecting antiques, researching family history and genealogy, and loving her family.
Claudette was active as a volunteer at Two Rock Elementary School, Petaluma High School, Petaluma Youth Soccer League, Petaluma American Little League, Petaluma Museum, and the Historical Society of Petaluma, among many other groups. She was heavily involved with the Petaluma High School Athletic Boosters group that renovated Petaluma High Schools Durst Field athletic complex. Claudette supported her sons activities and sports teams, both local and out of the area. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren in dance recitals, plays, sports and most recently graduation ceremonies from college and high school.
Claudette enjoyed drives to the Bodega Bay coastline, reading books and continuing an ongoing family tradition of co-hosting holiday parties, especially Christmas Eve.
Most recently, she was honored to represent the Hiribarren family and her Great Grandfather Captain Leon Hiribarren in the Fourth of July Parade in Novato. She was proud of the Hiribarren Family and their impact on Novato history and Petaluma, as well. She enjoyed sharing stories of her aunts, uncles and other family members she learned about through family stories passed down and her own genealogy research.
There will be a ceremony to celebrate Claudette's life on Friday the 23rd of March, at 11am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at
35 Liberty St.,
Petaluma,CA. 94952
The family prefers memorials to the Druidic Scholarship Awards Fund, 1545 Pepper Road, Petaluma, CA 949525.
A reception will be immediately following at the Elks Lodge. The address is
