Cleo Emily Sisler

July 23, 1929 — February 12, 2021

Passed away peacefully at her home on Friday February 12, 2021, her ever-present daughter and son-in-law by her side.

Loving and devoted wife to her previously deceased husband Dr. David A. Sisler.

The pride of her life was raising 11 children. She was the adored grandma of 24 and great-grandma to 16.

Loving sister to the late Chester Rice and Clinton Rice.

Born in Boise Idaho and as the story was told small enough to fit inside of a wooden cigar box.

Raised by her dear parents James and Alberta Rice. Her father worked for Morrison-Knudsen as a civil engineer and her life was forever changed when he was captured as a civilian prisoner of war on Wake Island. Her mother moved her children in 1941 to San Bernardino California.

Cleo became active in her large high school theater department where she starred as Josephine in the musical production of H.M.S. Pinafore. She was gifted with a beautiful singing voice and as part of the music department, recorded musical broadcasts. She often sang for church services, weddings, and funerals.

After graduating in 1946 from San Bernardino High School, she completed training as an X-ray Technician at Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati Ohio. In 1962 her destiny brought her to Petaluma where she worked at Petaluma General Hospital.

After completing her family in 1970, work began on building her dream home atop her lovingly named Medicine Mountain with her husband by 1972.

Her heart and soul was raising her children and grandchildren. She loved planting flowers, painting with acrylics, stitchery, cobalt blue glass, native American culture and artifacts, and working with her husband at El Rose Medical Group.

Family was everything and the lessons she instilled upon them will last for all the future generations to come.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Petaluma. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
