Clyde "Bud" McCord, 90, passed away peacefully Wednesday July 8, 2015. He leaves his wife of 70 years, Melba McCord; his daughter the late Kathleen Ryan, grandsons Robert Stauft and Alex Mallin; granddaughter Nicole Mallin; and his great grandchildren Clyde, Serena, Dylan and Emily; and many other close relatives and friends.
Clyde Lyden McCord was born on November 21, 1924 in Healdsburg, CA to Lewis and Esther McCord. He moved to Petaluma California in 1927.
A former Eagle Scout and 3rd degree Mason, he enlisted in the Navy after graduating from Petaluma High School in 1943. He served with distinction on the U.S.S. Guadalupe (AO-32) which saw action in every major campaign in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged February 1946 earning the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (6 stars), Philippine Liberation Medal (1 star), and the WWII Victory Medal.
After the war, Bud practiced the tonsorial trade at Two Rock Ranch and Hamilton Field before joining the barber's union and working with his father at Rex Barbershop. With his friend and partner Martin Gavriloff, he went into real estate and the two formed Westgate Realty in 1962.
Bud retired from the real estate in 1990 to pursue his other passions; family, traveling and fishing.
A memorial to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday July 18th, 2015 - 11am at United Church of Christ - 825 Middlefield Dr, Petaluma. Memorial gifts in Bud's memory can be made to Hospice of Petaluma or the United Church of Christ.
