CONSTANCE BELL "CONNIE" MAHONEY, born in Newcastle, England on April 30, 1919 to Walter and Mary Bell, passed away August 2, 2016 at the age of 97 years surrounded by loved ones on the Mahoney Ranch in Petaluma.
Loving mother of John Mahoney (Ann) of Carmel Valley, Alan Mahoney (Carolyn) of Petaluma, Colleen Mahoney (Veronique Anxolabehere) of Berkeley, and Kerry Davison (Duwayne Bahnsen) of Petaluma. Adored grandmother of Jay Mahoney (Natasha) of Berkeley, Lisa Mendivil (John) of Rohnert Park, Corinne Diaz (Dave) of Petaluma, Kevin Mahoney (Lovina) of Carmel, Kelly Davison of Cameroon, Colin Davison of Petaluma, Mikayla Mahoney and Nicolas Mahoney Anxolabehere both of Berkeley. Also survived by many great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her brothers William and Henry Bell. Survived by several nieces and nephews.
Connie pursued her education at the University of California, Los Angeles, BA Liberal Arts followed by Long Beach State University, Master's Degree in Education.
After teaching elementary school in Southern California for over 14 years, and while working on her Doctorate at San Francisco State University in 1954, Connie was hired by Helen Putnam as Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Petaluma City School District. Connie married the late Herold Mahoney in 1955.
Connie devoted her skills in leadership, passion for education, and her love for the community to numerous organizations including PTA and the Sonoma County Girl Scout Council.
Connie's a member of the Two Rock Presbyterian Church, Petaluma.
She was involved with many organizations locally including, Petaluma Women's Club Lifetime and 60-year member, AAUW Lifetime and 70-year member, Petaluma Art and Garden Club, Red Hat Society, and Little Hills Investment Club.
Connie enjoyed many hobbies: especially gardening, playing bridge, oil painting, and following the SF Giants.
A private family interment service will be at Two Rock Presbyterian Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Rooster Run Golf Club, 2301 E. Washington St., Petaluma.
