ARATA, DALE A. - Entered into rest in Sonoma, CA on July 21, 2014. Dearly beloved sixty-seven year husband of the late Lorraine Elma (Onstad) Arata. Loving father of Jim (Diane) Arata of Mount Shasta, Mick (Diane) Arata of Truckee, Tom (Cathy) Arata of Sonoma and Mary (Frank) Flores of Redding. Also survived by nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. A native of San Leandro, CA, age 93 years. Dale is also preceded in death by his granddaughter; Adrianna Arata. A graduate of the San Leandro High School Class of 1938, Dale went on marry his High School Sweetheart in 1943. He later graduated from the University of San Francisco- School of Dentistry in 1947. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in WWII from 1943 to 1945 and returned for the Korean Conflict from 1953-1954. Dale's Dental Practice in San Leandro spanned thirty-five years. He coached Basketball at Assumption Grammar School in San Leandro. An avid golfer, he also loved Basketball and Baseball. He was a member of the Sequoia Country Club in Oakland for many years and moved to Santa Rosa's Oakmont Community ten years ago, where he played golf until six years ago and was a devout Catholic Parishioner at Star of the Valley Catholic Church.
