Daniel Peter Murphy

Passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2013, beloved husband of Joan M. Murphy of Petaluma. Loving father of Ann DeJong (Don) of Petaluma, Jerry Murphy (Paula) of Reno, NV, Patrick Murphy (Dina) of Spokane, WA and Dan Murphy of Yreka. Cherished grandfather of Morgan DeJong, Dylan DeJong, Cotter DeJong, Laura Murphy, Erin Murphy, Rebecca Murphy and Jack Murphy. Dear brother of Loretta Schoenstein (Erwin) of San Mateo, Bill Murphy (Terry) of So. S.F., Phil Murphy (Helen) of S.F., Rosemary Lally (John) of Sacramento and the late Joseph Murphy, Marie Murphy, Leo Murphy, Rita Murphy and Ann Tolleson. Brother-in-law of Diann Murphy. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A native of Hayward, CA. Age 91 years. Dan volunteered with local CYO Basketball program, serving as Athletic Director and President, he was an avid 49'er fan and Little League Baseball enthusiast. He was a longtime member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Visitation will be held, Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. The Vigil Service will be held at 6:30 pm at the mortuary. Family and friends are also invited to the Funeral Mass, Friday, November 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Petaluma. Interment will be private. The family prefer memorials be made to St. Vincent's Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma, CA.
