Dante Panfiglio - An avid hunter, going out of state many times, and enjoying many visits to the pheasant club, Dante Panfiglio of Novato was called home on July 18, 2008 of natural causes, he was surrounded by his family.
He was born September 3, 1922 at his aunt's house in San Rafael. Dante graduated from Grant Elementary School in Novato, where he met Kathleen Barboni. He attended San Rafael High School and graduated in 1941. He joined the Navy Seabees in 1943 and was sent to Alaska. While in Alaska he played on the softball team that won the championship. He later assisted in forming the Novato Little League. He was a member of the Novato Volunteer Fire Department and was commissioner for several years. After coming home from his tour of duty in 1945, Dante went to work for Frank Maus of Petaluma as an electrician. He and his brother, Carlo bought the Blue Jay Ranch in Point Reyes in 1957, where Dante spent much of his retirement. Dante went out to the ranch almost daily working around the house and barn doing odds and ends and keeping track of the cattle. His favorite time of year was deer season, when he was out at the deer club every weekend cooking his famous rice for the rest of the club and hunting his favorite hole. Dante loved to hunt and had many hunting stories to share. He also had a passion for woodworking and wood crafting, making all sorts of animals, toys, shelves and stands. With Kathleen by his side, he made the wood crafts while she painted them.
Dante was the son of the late Guiseppe and Maria Panfiglio of Oleggio, Italy and brother to the late Carlo Panfiglio of Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a beloved husband to his wife of 63 years, Kathleen; father to his son, Joe (Karen) of Cotati; Nono to Christa (Joe) Rieger of Penngrove, JD (fiancé
