David R. Shelley

DAVID R. SHELLEY passed away peacefully on January 6, 2015 at his home in Penngrove at the age of 92. Devoted husband of the late Ida Jean Shelley. Cherished father of Stacie Krshul and Richard Shelley both of Santa Rosa, Simone Merritt of Montague, and the late Stephen Shelley. Beloved grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of nine. Loving brother of Edith Chapin, Pearl Barker, Gloria Lewis, and the late Masie McKewon, Patrick Shelley, and Richard "Bud" Shelley. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. David was born, reared, and educated in Yreka, CA and spent many years living in Northern CA. He enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart. In the 1950s, he started Shelley Trucking Company, of which he was proud. In 1963, he and his family settled in Sonoma County. David loved to garden, but above all, he was a family man. He will be missed. Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Liturgy, Friday, January 9, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY & CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma.
