Denise Martha Pounds

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Denise Martha Pounds, a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved sister. She left this world on December 3, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family. Denise was born on February 16, 1951, to Robert Campbell and Martha Campbell in Petaluma, CA, where she spent her entire life.

Denise is survived by her adoring husband, Ray Pounds, and their three devoted sons: Jeffrey Pounds (Cara Walker), Marc Pounds (Kelly Senon), and Justin Pounds. She was the loving grandmother to Alex, Dylan, Elise, Isla, David, and Margaret, whose lives were enriched by her boundless love and wisdom.

Denise was sister to: Kenneth, Patrice, Jan, Luann, Frank, Julie, and Antionette. Denise had numerous cousins and extended family.

Denise had a zest for life and enjoyed spending time with friends and family, through sports like bowling or leisurely sitting by the pool. She loved exploring the Petaluma shops looking for deals and making friends with store owners and shoppers alike, always making people laugh along the way. She could often be spotted walking across town with her loyal dog, Willie (RIP). Denise cheered on her boys’ sporting activities with fervor and unconditional support. She loved to dance and encouraged others to join her on the dance floor.

Denise dedicated much of her life as a loving mother. As her boys grew up and became more independent, she went to work as a teacher’s assistant at the Old Adobe School District. Her commitment to helping children learn to read exemplified her compassion to helping others. She found meaning in nurturing young minds and left an enduring impact on the community she loved.

A memorial service to celebrate Denise's life will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Petaluma, CA. A reception will follow at the Elks Lodge in Petaluma, where friends and family can gather to share memories and support one another.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Denise's memory to the American Cancer Society, Petaluma Valley Hospital Foundation, or the charity of your choice. These contributions will serve as a lasting tribute to Denise's spirit of generosity and caring.

Denise Martha Pounds will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and devotion will endure in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace in the arms of her Savior.
