Dolores Emma Lawson - Age, 82, of Dillon Beach passed away peacefully with family by her side on March 27, 2012. She was born on July 31, 1929 in Occidental, California. She is preceded in death by her husband Walter (Mike) Lawson, and her parents John W. Gonnella and Leontina Donati. Her parents were Italian immigrants from Coreglia Antelminelli located just outside of Lucca. Dolores is also predeceased by her siblings: Ben Gonnella, Rueben Gonnella, Gildo Gonnella, Daniel Gonnella, Stella Hill, Eva Cinquini, Anna Panizerra and Louise Bordessa.
Dolores is survived by her children, Marisa Kitson of Dillon Beach, Carol Zanardi (Lou) of Penngrove, Michael Lawson (Judy) of Dillon Beach and Chris Lawson of Dillon Beach. Her grandchildren: Tony Larsen, Nicholas Larsen, Ryan Larsen, Triana Larsen, Emily Zanardi, Wyatt Zanardi, Justin Lawson, Cecilia Brodsky, Whitney Lawson, Theresa Hollis, Shelby Lawson and Giana Lawson. Her great grandchildren: Tyler Rogers, Kaleb Larsen, Shya Larsen, Parker Larsen, Kaden Brodsky, Mia Bayliss, Eva Bayliss, Jordan Bayliss and Olivia Hollis. Her sisters, Claudia Ricci, June Rossini and Daria Calvi.
Dolores enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles and had an immense love for the San Francisco Giants. She had a passion for travel and went to numerous destinations around the globe from Russia to New Zealand to Italy and across the US. She gave much of her energy towards helping her community as a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption in Tomales, a member of the Marin County Farm Bureau and the Tomales Druids and was one of the founders of the Tomales Regional History Center serving on the board of directors.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 2, 2012 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary and Crmatory, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. The Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 pm at the mortuary. Family and friends are also invited to attend the Funeral Mass, Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma, CA. Interment will follow at Tomales Catholic Cemetery, Tomales, CA. Donations may be made to the Tomales Regional History Center, P.O. Box 262, Tomales, Ca. 94971.
Dolores had many fond memories of her childhood in Occidental growing up with her twelve siblings, making Christmas wreaths, and participating in the weekly Sunday dinners where 40 to 50 family members would consistently attend. She often spoke of her many adventures while making the 2 mile walk to Joy School.
