Donald Michael Kantola

May 21, 1923 — February 28, 2014

Passed away suddenly on February 28, 2014 in Santa Rosa,CA. Devoted husband of the late Vivian Christina Kantola. Cherished father of DeeDee Olson (Oakley) of Glen Ellen, Mike Kantola (Janet) of Phoenix, AZ and the late Suzanne Kantola and Christie Whitmire. Adored grandfather of 7 and great grandfather of 5. Also survived by his beloved canine companion, Vivi. A native of Mullan, Idaho. Age 90 years. On December 8, 1945, in Sacramento, he married his beloved Vivian, his wife of 63 years until her death in 2009. He served his country in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945. The couple made Seattle their home for four years after which they moved to Alaska, where Don introduced Moore Business Forms in the developing businesses of Alaska. He was a proud employee of Moore Business Forms for 37 years, achieving many sales awards from the company. In Alaska the couple enjoyed skiing together, during their 18 years. They moved to San Rafael. where they resided for 23 years and enjoyed the holidays with their family at their Tahoe home. Twenty-eight years ago, they moved to Oakmont, where they enjoyed playing golf together after his retirement. The couple enjoyed dancing, attending 49er games and hosting tailgate parties. Cruises were also a favorite time in the couples' life. He was also a member of the SIRS. Don loved to entertain and enjoyed life to the fullest being a true inspiration to others. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the Fireside Room of LAFFERTY & SMITH COLONIAL CHAPEL, 4321 Sonoma Highway, Santa Rosa. Family and friends are also invited to attend the Funeral Service, Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:00 am at LAFFERTY & SMITH. Interment will follow in the Veterans Lawn of Santa Rosa Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bulldog Club of No. California, c/o 13520 Skyline Blvd., Woodside, CA 94062 or to the charity of your choice.
